Community Guidelines

Last updated: 13 June 2026

These Community Guidelines set out the standards for content and behavior on CringeAlert!!. We aim to be a platform where people can express strong opinions, share honest reviews, and engage in open debate, while maintaining a safe and respectful environment.

1. Core Standard

This is a review platform, so strong opinions are allowed. Negative reviews, blunt criticism, political views, profanity, and unpopular opinions are generally permitted.

The line is crossed when content becomes explicit hate speech, uses slurs, reveals private personal information, infringes others' rights, or is otherwise unlawful or abusive.

2. What Is Allowed

The following content is generally allowed:

  • Negative reviews of products, services, creators, or businesses;
  • Harsh or blunt criticism;
  • Profanity that is not directed as explicit hateful conduct toward protected groups;
  • Disagreement about politics, culture, media, or public issues; and
  • Quoting or discussing offensive language for commentary, criticism, or reporting, where context makes the purpose clear.

3. What Is Not Allowed

The following content is not allowed:

  • Explicit hate speech targeting protected groups;
  • Slurs, including obvious alternate spellings meant to evade filters;
  • Dehumanizing language directed at protected classes;
  • Threats of violence or encouragement of violence;
  • Doxxing, including posting private addresses, phone numbers, personal email addresses, financial details, or similar information without permission;
  • Impersonation, fraud, or deceptive review activity;
  • Spam, coordinated manipulation, or artificially generated posting meant to distort ratings or discussion; and
  • Copyrighted text, images, audio, or video uploaded without permission, except where lawful use clearly applies.

4. Context Matters, but Not for Slurs

The Service aims to be permissive and will not remove content merely because it is rude, offensive, or controversial. However, some categories receive stricter treatment because they create outsized safety and legal risk.

As a result, direct slurs and explicit hateful conduct may be removed even if the rest of the post expresses an opinion that would otherwise be allowed.

5. Moderation Approach

The Service may use a combination of automated detection, user reports, and manual review. Some content may be published immediately and reviewed only after it is reported or flagged.

When possible, the Service will try to distinguish between discussion about hateful language and hateful language used as an attack. But the Service may still remove content where context is unclear or where the risk of harm is too high.

6. Reporting

Users are encouraged to report content that appears to violate these Guidelines, infringe rights, disclose private information, or break the law. Reports should be made in good faith and include enough detail for review.

7. Enforcement

Possible enforcement actions include:

  • No action;
  • Content removal;
  • Reduced visibility;
  • Warning;
  • Temporary posting restriction;
  • Account suspension; and
  • Account termination.

The action taken may depend on severity, context, user history, repeat violations, and legal obligations.
